Florence P. Alavardy, 91, of New Britain, beloved widow of Joseph Alavardy, died Saturday (October 8, 2005) at John Dempsey Hospital in Farmington. Born in Iran, Florence moved to New Britain over 70 years ago.

She was a member of St. Thomas Assyrian Church of the East and a member of the Women's Guild at the church. Surviving are two brothers, B---- and N----- Pera, both of Philadelphia; several nieces and nephews. Besides her husband Joe, she was predeceased by a daughter Florence L. Alavardy in 1998 and a brother John Pera.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday 1 p.m. at St. Thomas Assyrian Church of the East, 120 Cabot Street, New Britain 06051. Burial will be in St. Thomas Cemetery, New Britain. Calling hours are Monday evening 6-8 p.m. at Carlson Funeral Home, 45 Franklin Square, New Britain. Memorial donations may be made to St. Thomas Assyrian Church.
