Darwin James (Goose) Whitman, age 79, of Two Rivers, passed away on Thursday, May 5th, 2016 at his home.

Darwin was born in Stevens Point on November 28, 1936, the son of the late Leonard and Zella (Paust) Whitman. He served in the United States Air Force, and was employed until his retirement with Consolidated Paper Company. He also owned and operated the Blue Goose Pub & Grill in Two Rivers for many years. There he served up his own particular brand of humor and honesty along with a good strong drink.

Goose was a true character, and always had a story to tell to those lucky enough to be in his company. He shared his opinions freely and loved to argue a point, but his gruff manner masked a generous nature and a kind heart. He will be greatly missed.

Darwin is survived by: four children, James (Jill) Whitman, Michael (Linda) Whitman, Lisa (John) Heitzinger, Susan (Richard Pryd) Whitman; and seven grandchildren. He also leaves behind many close friends, Jim (Marge) Erickson, Nick (Lisa) Novachek, Lynn Baruth, and countless others who knew and loved him and his unique personality. He was preceded in death by; his parents, two sisters, Genevieve and Elizabeth, and his beloved dog, Buddy.

A celebration of his life will be held on Sunday, May 15th, from 1:00-4:00 pm, at the Chadderbox Bar & Grill, 1215 26th Street, Two Rivers. Cremation has taken place.

Online condolences may be sent to the family by visiting www.dejamartin.com.

Deja & Martin Funeral Chapels, 1506 18th St. Two Rivers assisted with the arrangements.

Special thanks to the staff at Northland Lodge Assisted Living and Southern Care Hospice, for their excellent care and compassion, and to all those who brightened his days with phone calls, visits, and chocolate. His final days were made better ones because of all of you.
