Sergeant with the 1st Battalion of The Royal Canadian Regiment based in Petawawa, Ontario. Aged 32. Survived by his wife Charmaine, daughters Kaeleigh and Julia, parents Robin and Paulette Tedford, brother Jody Tedford (Isabelle), parents-in-law Edith and Finton Organ, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

He and Pte Blake Williamson were killed, and two others wounded, in an ambush by militants using rocket-propelled grenades. Their unit was providing security for construction of the new Panjwayi development road near Pashmul, about 25 kilometres west of Kandahar, Afghanistan.

Other Canadian units quickly responded to the attack and became involved in a three-hour battle with insurgents. International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) helicopters were also called in to help. The four-kilometre stretch has been the site of a number of attacks and four other Canadian soldiers have died in that area in the previous 16 days.

Sgt Tedford was born in Calgary AB and grew up in Earltown NS. A 14 year veteran of the armed forces, he previously served in Kosovo and was on his second tour of duty in Afghanistan. He was a recipient of the Canadian Forces Decoration (CD).

Funeral Service with Military Honours held on October 20, 2006 at CFB Petawawa. Interment service held on October 23, 2006.
