John D. Artz II, 64 of Greeley, passed away May 10, 2016. John was born July 12, 1951 in Queens, New York to Dr. Richard Artz Sr. and Iris Elizabeth (Smith) Artz. He married Lynn Dobrinski on September 24, 1977 in Greeley, CO.

John graduated from high school in Angola, Indiana in 1969. He went on to earn his Bachelor degree in English from Tri State University in Angola and furthered his education at Aims Community College in Mechanical Engineering and Technology.

John was a member of the Experimental Aircraft Association and lifelong member of the Young Eagles, taking kids on their first plane ride. He loved to fly, earning his pilots license and certificate to solo in 1972 at Tri State Airport in Angola. He loved animals, cats and squirrels. He built his own four car garage with an attached apartment, put solar panels on his home, rebuilt airplanes, and never called a repair man! He was an assistant baseball coach for his son Adam and soccer coach for his daughter Rachel. John loved his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife Lynn Dobrinski-Artz, son Adam (Jessica) Artz, daughter Rachel (Robert) Artz-Steinberg; brother Richard Warner Artz Jr.; grandchildren Annabelle Artz and Adam Artz Jr., Elliana, Nathan, and Jonah Steinberg.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
