Janice D. Allen, 79, died January 25, 2014, at the Memorial Hospital. She was the wife of Richard B. "Shorty" Allen. They were married for 62 years.
Janice was born on May 28, 1934, in Greenfield, Mass, a daughter of the late Henry and Dorothy (Snow) Courtemanche.
She had worked for Manor Care Dallastown as an activities assistant. She loved working with people with special needs.
The service and burial will be private. In addition to her husband, she is also survived by five children, Terry Allen and wife Lori of Felton, Cheryl Witmer and husband Ned of Manchester, Robin Smith of York, David Allen and wife Crystal of York, and James Allen of Windsor; 11 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Michael Coutremanche of Orange, Va. She was preceded in death by a brother, William Courtemanche, and a son-in-law, David Smith. Memorial contributions may be made to the Baltimore Zoo, 1876 Mansion House Drive, Baltimore, MD 21217.
