Son of dentist Dr. James Robert Beachum and Maggie Belle Rogers. John Hugh Beachum was an insurance agent in Dallas, Texas and married first Mary Jane Hood of Alabama, daughter of Ruben Harvey Hood and Mary Elizabeth "Bettie" Vaughn. John H. and Mary Jane had son John "Jack" Hood Beachum Jr. and daughter Luna Belle "Pat" Beachum Butler. They were divorced by 1930, and Mary Jane worked as saleslady at a dress shop in Dallas. About 1943, Mary Jane Beachum was married to the widowed Utley Sylvester Perryman. In 1932 Collin County, Texas, John was married to a second wife Rita E Allen, born 1898 New York, died 1969 in Dallas, Texas.
