Considerable regret was felt in Wagga yesterday when the news spread that Mr. John Ray, senr., of Junee, had died suddenly on Sunday. Deceased, who was about 60 years of age, was one of the best known and most highly respected residents of these parts. He was a native of Picton, and in the early sixties took up land at Oura, where he resided for some years. He subsequently went to live on property he acquired at Brucedale, and remained there tor many years. He also owned property at Wallaroobie. He retired five or six years ago. and had lived quietly in Junee.
He married Miss Tolland, also of Picton, and his wife, eleven sons and three daughters survive him. With the exception of one daughter, who lives at Picton, the children all reside about the district. The late Mr. Ray was also a brother-in-law of Mr. A. P. Lysaught, night-officer at the Wagga Post-office.

SUDDEN DEATH AT JUNEE.
A telegram was received in Wagga yesterday, stating that Mr. John Ray, senr,, had suddenly dropped dead at his residence, Junee on Sunday last. The deceased gentleman, who was one of the early pioneers of this district, took up land at Oura early in the 50's, and subsequently selected land at Brucedale and at Wallaroobie.
Some few years ago he retired from active life and took up his residence at Junee. Deceased leaves a widow and family of 11 sons and 3 daughters, all of whom are settled in or near the Wagga district. The body was taken to Picton by yesterday's mail train for interment.
