Herbert A. Vaughn, 82, of Phillipsburg, passed away in his home on Friday May 13th, 2016. He was predeceased by his loving wife, the late Catherine Ashman Vaughn, who he loved dearly and who entered into heaven on February 16th, 2007. They celebrated 54 wonderful years of marriage on October 18th, 2006. He was born on September 30th, 1933 in Easton, Pa, and was the son of the late Herbert Vaughn and Anna Gellock Vaughn Anthony.

He graduated from Phillipsburg High School in 1951 and then enlisted in the Navy that same year. After his tour of duty he was employed by his late father-in-law Frank Ashman of Ashman Electric Service until taking over the business in 1980. He was a member of Easton Elks #121, Bangor Elks #1106, and AMVETS Post #17. He was also on the board of directors of the Phillipsburg Chamber of Commerce. He was also a member of the US Coast Guard Auxiliary, Flotilla 10-3, Easton, Pa. He enjoyed camping and boating, as well as, his yearly trips to Florida. He bowled at Warren Lanes and Bar-Don for many years. He was a life time, active member at St. Philip and St. James Catholic Church of Phillipsburg. In 2008 he met Carmella Bullock of Phillipsburg, with whom he cared for and spent 8 years of his life together. She was his beloved Hunnie, best friend, companion and all his life. They enjoyed and loved traveling to many places together including Florida. They were in love and she cared for him up until his passing.

He is survived by his companion Carmella Bullock of Phillipsburg, his daughter, Mary C. Pinkerton and her husband Russell of East Bangor, his two sons Ronald F. Vaughn of Alpha, James A. Vaughn of Poquoson, VA, and Jacquelyn A. Ramirez of Phillipsburg. He has nine Grandchildren whom some of them include Elizabeth Hardy and her husband David, Ryan Pinkerton, and Kathleen Pinkerton. He has two Great Grandchildren Cheyenne and Rebecca Hardy, whom he loved dearly. He is also survived by one brother, Donald Vaughn of Florida, one sister, Mary Alice Vaughn Wendland of Easton, and predeceased by a brother, Robert Vaughn.

The funeral will begin at the Finegan Funeral Home 302 Heckman Street, Phillipsburg, on Wednesday May 18th at 9 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. Interment will be in St. Philip and St. James Cemetery, Greenwich Twp., NJ. Viewing hours will be held Tuesday May 17th from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral.
