OBITUARY FOR HUBERT PRESTON DANIEL
U.S. Veteran, Hubert Preston Daniel, age 91, of Lake Station, passed away Thursday, May 12, 2016 at St. Catherine’s Hospital in East Chicago. He was born on August 12, 1924 in Toone, Tennessee, the son of Hubert John Douglas Daniel and Laura Ella Dorris. Hubert was preceded in death by his first wife, Bertha Mae. On November 13, 1985, he married Georgia Burke. She survives. He retired from Ford Motor Company 35 years ago. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of New Chicago. He proudly served in the United States National Guard, discharged September 30, 1950.
Along with his wife, he is survived by four sons, Larry (Diane) Daniel of DeMotte, IN, Terry (Janet) Daniel of Schererville, IN, John (Janice) Armstrong of Rensselear, IN, Eddie Armstrong of Dora, Alabama; daughters, Carrol (Tim) Layer of Lowell, IN, Pam (Bill) Price of Cullman, AL, Anna Daniel of Lake Station; eleven grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.
Hubert was preceded in death by his parents, Hubert and Ella Daniel; one brother, Houston Daniel; two sisters, Ella Vaughn and Mary Alice Brown. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Hubert’s name may be made to the family.
A funeral service for Hubert will take place Tuesday, May 17 at 10:00 am at Rees Funeral Home, Brady Chapel, 3781 Central Avenue, Lake Station, Indiana 46405 with Rev. Jerry Stepp officiating. He will be laid to rest at Ridgelawn Cemetery. Visitation will be held Monday, May 16, 2016 from 2:00 pm until 8:00 in the funeral home. For more information, please call (219) 962-1606.
