John Appalhans Dies in Hospital Here at 67. John J. Appalhans a retired farmer and lifelong resident of the Pfeifer died Sunday morning in Anthony Hospital at Hays where he had been a patient for 12 weeks.

Survivors are his wife Rose of the home; two sons, Elmer, South Pasadena, Calif., and Sylvester Hays, a daughter Mrs. Clarence Walters, El Dorado, Kans.; a sister, Mrs. Mary Schmidt, Hays; three half-sisters, Mrs. Ted Stramel, Kinsley, Mrs. George Degenhardt, La Crosse, Mrs. William Degenhardt, Wichita; two half-brothers, George Meier and Boniface Meier, both of Wichita; a step-sister, Mrs. Katie Schmidtberger, Hays; and seven grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at Tuesday in Holy Cross Catholic Church, burial will be in the Church cemetery. The body will lie in state at Brock North Hill Chapel at Hays until the hour of service.
