John W. LeMay was the husband of Lena M. McCracken and the son of Alfred and Alice J. LeMay. This LeMay family was originally from Alabama, but had moved into Lawrence County sometime before 1900. They were enumerated in the 1900 Lawrence Co., Tennessee census.

John and Lena were married 30 Oct 1907 in Lawrence Co., Tennessee and lived most of their married life on a farm near West Point, Tennessee.

Uncle John died as a result of injuries received in an automobile accident on Highway 64 East in Lawrenceburg following a snow storm. He was enroute to his home in West Point, Tennessee to see about his livestock when the taxi in which he was riding hit an icy patch on the roadway and overturned. Uncle John's chest was crushed and he died a few days later from congestive heart failure.
