Suggested edit: He may be the Lieutenant Jedediah Rogers of the 2nd Continental Dragoons who was a principal officer leading the successful attack on Fort Slongo, Long Island, NY in 1781. That operation was orchestrated under Major Lemuel Trescott who, in turn, was a subaltern under the famous Colonel Benjamin Talmadge, Washington's spy master.
