OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. -- Eva Verna Jones, the grandmother of Diane Huff of Snyder, died Tuesday, Oct. 14, 2003 in Oklahoma City.

Service for Mrs. Jones, 97, is set for 2 p.m. Saturday at the Branstetter-Merritt Funeral Home Chapel in Oklahoma City with Dale Huff, minister of 37th Street Church of Christ in Snyder, officiating. Burial will follow in Resthaven Memory Gardens.

Born Jan. 20, 1906 in Honey Grove, Texas to C.R. and Liddie Banker, she married Herman Jones on Sept. 18, 1924 in Caddo, Okla. She lived and worked in Oklahoma City for 67 years before moving to Abilene in 1996. She was a member of the Oldham Lane Church of Christ in Abilene.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Herman Jones; and a son, Charles Jones.

Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Shirley and Jimmy Jividen of Abilene; a daughter-in-law, June Jones of Marlow, Okla.; six grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
