Elizabeth Clotilde Diehl was the daughter of Antoine Diehl and Anna Trammel. "The family came from Orleans, France to New Orleans, La. and then up the river by boat to St. Geneve, Mo. This was the first town west of the Miss. River. They were two young brothers and they bought up mines. One was the St. Louis Lead Mine and the other "Mine Le Mote". These mines made a lot of money for the two families. They were leased on a 99 year lease. One lease expired when we lived in Cal., but the family did not get the mine back. One lease expired when Papa's mother was living and she got a lot of money and moved to Parsons Kas. She built 5 homes. She lived in one, paps in one next door, Uncle Louis and his family lived there and she rented the rest. She was always known as grandma McBeth." letter from Irene Isbell Feb. 19, 1954. This letter is in my copy of the book, "Genealogy of the Isbell Family" by Mary Isbell Scott. The letter was written on a typewriter by Irene Isbell and was placed in the book. I found the book at a used bookstore and quickly grabbed it to purchase; and it's still in my possession. ~ Sharon "Shane" Dallman (aka Genie Angel)

The two young brothers mentioned in the above narrative were William D. Isbell and his brother Thomas J. "Henderson" Isbell.
