Mrs. Ann Davis, 90

Mrs. Ann Davis passed away Thursday evening, March 5, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. L.A. Potter. Mrs. Davis was a daughter of one of the pioneer families of this town, Amos and Betsey Maria (Wheat) Beadle, who settled on the farm now owned by Alonzo E. Hilton. Mary Ann Beadle born January 11, 1841, was one of the eight children born in the Beadle home and is the last one of the immediate family to depart from this life. She was united in marriage with John Washburn, April 3, 1865, from this union were born two daughters Adelaide and Viola Washburn. The death of Mr. Washburn occurred March 16, 1889. Mrs. Ann Washburn united in marriage with Seymour C. Davis, December 20, 1893 Mr. Davis departed from this life two years later, in December, 1895. Mrs. Davis is survived by one daughter, Mrs. L.A. Potter; by five grandchildren, Glenn W. Potter of Auburn, Mrs. L.J. Edgett of Norwich, Mrs. Carl Spaulding of Etna, N.Y., Mrs. Rupert Anderson of Watertown, Mrs. Whiting Hilton of Orwell, and by seven great grandchildren. Mrs. Davis was loved by all who knew her; it can be truly said of her that she grew old gracefully.

One would not suspect by her looks or actions that she had passed her ninetieth birthday. For many years Mrs. Davis had been a faithful member of the Congregational church, the Women's Home Missionary Society and the Women's Christian temperance Union. The funeral service was conducted in the home Sunday afternoon, by Rev. T.T. Davies, her former pastor, and the casket placed in the mortuary chapel, Evergreen cemetery, where burial will take place later in the season.

Relatives from out of town present at the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Glenn W. Potter, Auburn; Mr. and Mrs. L.J. Edgett, Norwich; Mr. and Mrs. Carl Spaulding, Edna; F.D. Rowlett, Dryden; Mr. and Mrs. Rupert Anderson, Watertown; Mrs. H. Davis, Syracuse; Mr. and Mrs. G. Hadley and daughter, Mrs H. V. Tigt, Sandy Creek and Mr. and Mrs. Ameth Beecher of Syracuse.
