Perished in the Sago Mine Disaster, from the explosion occurring Januar 2, 2006 and trapping 13 miners for nearly 2 days. Only 1 survived. It was the worst mining disaster in West Virginia since the 1968 disaster that killed 78.

Son of David Anderson of Hacker Valley and the late Dessie Fisher Anderson. Married to Lynda Hyre Anderson on April 5, 1991.Preceded in death by one son, Caleb Paul Anderson, his paternal grandfather, Paul Anderson, and maternal grandparents Lester and Fanny Fisher. Wonderful husband and father. He enjoyed the outdoors and hunting and fishing. A Christian by faith and attended the Church of God in Lewis County.

Public memorial held to honor the twelve who perished on or before 4 Jan 2006. About 4,000 mourners paid their respects, including national tv & print media.
