Mr. Grobe was born and reared in Leslie and worked for 30 years as a machinist at Wagner Electric Co.'s old plant in Wellston. He was in the International Union of Electrical, Radio and Machine Operators, Local 1104. He was also a farmer in the Harvester area until recently, and the farm continues to be run by other family members.
A funeral service will be at 1 p.m. today at Baue Funeral Home, 620 Jefferson Street, St. Charles. Burial will be at St. Charles Memorial Gardens, 3950 West Clay Street, St. Charles.
Among survivors are his wife, Louise "Lou" Lammers Grobe of St. Peters; two daughters, Wanda Morales of St. Peters and Lolita "Lee" Cavender of St. Charles; and four grandchildren.
