1958-11-01 - Chicago Tribune (IL) - CUMMINGS - Edition: Chicago Tribune - Mrs. Cummings Services Set for Monday - Mass for Mrs. Frances Sullivan Cummings, daughter of the late Roger C. Sullivan, first Democratic boss of Cook county, will be said at 11 am Monday in St. Nicholas church, 806 Ridge av., Evanston. Mrs. Cummings, 68, died Thursday in her home at 1127 Hull Terrace, Evanston. Mrs. Cummings was an arbitrator for the state industrial commission for 18 years, resigning in 1951, and a leader among women in Democratic politics. Her late husband, Leo Patrick Cummings, was vice president of the Union bank. Her father was credited with swinging key support to Woodrow Wilson at the 1912 Democratic convention. Surviving are four sons and seven daughters.

Cummings, daughter of the late Roger Sullivan, Illinois Democratic leader, as an arbitrator for the Illinois industrial commission. She had held the position for 18 years during the regimes of Governors Horner and Green. In accepting the resignation, Gov. Stevenson expressed his "gratitude for the long, conscientious, and enlightened service" by Mrs. Cummings, who lives at 5510 Sheridan rd.
