Myrtle M. Lautenschlaeger, 97, of New Holstein, passed away peacefully Friday, August 26, 2016, surrounded by her family. The former Myrtle Kasper was born December 24, 1918, in Colby, Wisconsin to Moritz & Emma Berg Kasper. On March 30, 1938, she married Alfred A. Lautenschlaeger in Illinois. Her husband preceded her in death on June 11, 1993.

She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in New Holstein where she also belonged to the Altar Guild. Myrtle and her husband worked with the Meals on Wheels program for many years. She also volunteered for various county programs throughout the years. Myrtle enjoyed fishing, playing cards, strawberry picking, crafting, and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Survivors include her five sons, Alfred H. (Kathleen) Lautenschlaeger of New Holstein, Dennis (Ruth) Lautenschlaeger of New Holstein, David Lautenschlaeger and his friend, Mae Binotto, of New Holstein, Gary (Kathy) Lautenschlaeger of Fond du Lac and Steven (Wendy) Lautenschlaeger of New Holstein; five daughters, Delores Ruffing of Hilbert, Barbara (Daniel) Heimerman of Pickerel, Bonnie (Gerry) Bartel of New Holstein, Connie Lautenschlaeger of Appleton and Linda (Ivan) Martinez of Dallas; 24 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Preceding Myrtle in death were her parents, Moritz & Emma Kasper; her husband, Alfred; a daughter, Shirley; a son, Robert; two grandsons; a great-granddaughter; three brothers and two sisters.

Funeral Services will be held at 3:00 PM on Tuesday, August 30, 2016, at Zion Lutheran Church, 1702 Van Buren Street New Holstein, WI 53061. Rev. Azor Cigelske, Pastor, will officiate. Myrtle will be laid to rest next to her husband and son at Highland Memorial Park Cemetery in Appleton.
