Barbara was born on May 25, 1933, in Oblong Township near Stoy, Illinois. She was the daughter of James Walter Meese and June Evelyn (Miller) Meese. On April 26, 1953 she married the love of her life Jerry J. Harmon and he survives.
Barbara was a homemaker. She graduated from Robinson High School with the Class of 1951; she was also a member of the Oblong First Christian Church; a charter member and past president of Oblong Chapter KS P.E.O. Sisterhood; an original member of the Oak Glen “Glenettes”. Barbara enjoyed playing golf, flower gardening, singing, cooking and baking. She was an avid collector of Lenox China and Havilland China. Most of all, Barbara loved being “Nana” to her grands and her greats.
Barbara is survived by her husband Jerry J. Harmon of Oblong, IL; two sons and daughters-in-law Chad and Esther Harmon and Brad and Kim Harmon both of Oblong, IL; four grandchildren Tyler and Holly Harmon of Oblong, IL; Cole and Natasha Harmon of Mattoon, IL; L’erin and Adam Garner of Tipton, IN and Alex and Amanda Harmon of Safety Harbor, FL; six great-grandchildren Michael Cheek of Terre Haute, IN, Logan Richards of Oblong, IL, Ezra Harmon of Mattoon, IL, Ella Harmon of Oblong, IL, Sela Harmon of Mattoon, IL and Meiana Garner of Tipton, IN.; two brothers and sisters-in-law James and Glendith Meese of Avon Park, FL, and LeRoy and Sue Meese of Benson, AZ; three sisters and two brothers-in-law Shirley and Jack Harmon of Alhambra, IL, Linda and Harold Frauli and Sandy Meese all of Fulshear, TX; a special friend Jackie Graham as well as several nieces and nephews.
Preceding Barbara in death were her parents and one sister Erma Martin.
