Margaret was a mother to 5 children, Clarissa Dickey(a.k.a. Thurissa), Mary Salina Dickey (a.k.a. Mary Saline) Newhouse Harris, Martha Dickey, Lucretia Dickey(a.k.a. Lucrette), and Solomon Dickey, all of whom were born in Ohio. Her husband John, passed while they lived in Elkhart County, Indiana and is buried in Jackson Cemetery in Elkhart County.
After the death of Margaret's husband, in 1853, the family moved to Jasper County, Iowa where Margaret lived the rest of her life until her death. Shortly after moving to Greencastle, Margaret saw the death of her first daughter Clarissa (Thurissa). That same year or a little while afterwards, Margaret's daugher Mary Salina and her husband and many children moved to Jasper County as well. During the civil war, Margaret experience the death of her son-in-law Jonathan Newhouse, the husband of her daughter Mary Salina. A short time later, joy returned to the family when Mary Salina remarried Levi Harris a friend of the family who had moved to Jasper County about the same time as their family did.
