Husband of Nora (Gannon) Ryle, and son of John and Sarah (Morfitt) Ryle, aged 26 years.

John Ryle Jr. was the second youngest son of John Ryle, pioneer silk manufacturer in Paterson, New Jersey and the United States.

John Ryle Jr. was the superintendent of the Pioneer Silk Company's Allentown (PA) silk mill. He died as a result of rheumatic fever at the age of 26. He was survived by his wife, Nora (Gannon) Ryle, an infant daughter, Jemima Ryle, four brothers, one sister, and his father, John Ryle.

John Ryle Jr.'s wife and daughter relocated to Northern California where they lived out the rest of their lives and were buried there.

John Ryle Jr. died intestate owing to the suddeness of his illness and death, and his estate was placed in the hands of two of his brothers, William and Thomas M. Ryle, and Garret Hobart, a family friend and attorney. Garret Hobart became the legal guardian of John Ryle Jr.'s daughter, Jemima, and handled the management of Ryle's finances even though Jemima and her mother had relocated to San Francisco, California. Even after he became Vice-President of the United States in 1897, Hobart continued to maintain his guardianship of Jemima Ryle. The proceeds of John Ryle Jr.'s estate provided for his daughter Jemima to be educated in Europe. After Hobart's untimely death while in office in 1899, the guardianship of Jemima Ryle passed back to her uncles, William and Thomas M. Ryle until 1904 when she turned eighteen and became the legal heir to her father's large estate.
