ELMER ASBURY8 COE (Daniel Asbury7, Samuel6, Daniel5, Milburn4, John3, Richard2, Richard1) was born April 29, 1885, in Pottawattamie County, IA. He lived in Nebraska before he was married, working in a livery stable for one of his uncles at Fairbury. After a number of moves, including stays at Winner, SD, and Peru, NE, he returned to Hancock, IA.

A favorite of children, he entertained them by letting them play with his artificial leg. He served several terms as mayor of Hancock.

He died February 11, 1959. Burial was at Oakhill Cemetery, Hancock.

He married December 25, 1906, at Oakland, IA, Ruby Belle Humbert, born December 12, 1888, died May 17, 1963. Burial was at Oakhill Cemetery.
