Jean W. Adams died on Tuesday, August 8, 2006, at Christiana Hospital from complications of cancer. Mrs. Adams was 89 years old.
Mrs. Adams was born in Kingston, PA, the daughter of Irving White and Florence Westerville. She graduated from the local high school and secretarial college before coming to Wilmington to work with E.I. DuPont de Nemours & Company. She held several positions in the company but was especially proud of being executive secretary to the head of the Engineering Department during WWII and a member of the Hanford Project. After the war, she married Kennard Adams of Wilmington, long associated with the business interests of Alfred I. DuPont and later, Jessie Ball duPont and A.I. duPont Institute. Mr. Adams died in 1978. Mrs. Adams had a great interest in the arts. She was a graduate of the Barnes Foundation School, an active member of the Brandywine River Museum, the Delaware Art Museum and the Academy of Lifelong Learning.
Her cousin, Karl Westerville, of Pawling, NY; and a niece, Maureen A. Lyons of Wilmington, DE, survive her along with other members of their families.
