Born February 2, 1931, Mrs. Wilks was a daughter of the late James G. Hampton and Nora E. (Hampton) Hampton and was the widow of Fred Ervin Wilks. She attended Chester High School and was a homemaker. Mrs. Wilks was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and also a choir member. Hazel was a dedicated gospel music fan and was well versed in gospel music history. She served on the West Chester Community Center Board and also had an amazing memory for family heritage and community facts. A beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and a true and faithful friend.
Mrs. Wilks is survived by one daughter, two sons, a Daughter-In-Law, eight grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, and three sisters. She was preceded in death by one son, Crawford E. Wilks; three brothers, Don Hampton, Gordon "Corney" Hampton and Wayne Hampton; one sister, Naomi Williams; and a Son-In-Law, Herb Railey.
