Vallie “Cliff” Clifford, age 82, of Quincy, died Sunday, May 22, 2016, at 3:48 pm in Sunset Home.

Cliff was born October 8, 1933 in Quincy, the son of Vallie and Freda Masters Clifford.

He attended Quincy High School before joining the United State Marines during the Korean War. Cliff work as a maintenance man for the Holiday Inn and for the Illinois Veteran’s Home. He loved racing boats, traveling and going on vacations to Florida with his family. Even though they are not his grandchildren and great grandchildren, he treated them as his own and loved spending as much time as he could with them.

Cliff is survived by his significant other, Charlotte Maddox, of Quincy; six children he treated as his own, Mark Maddox, of Quincy, Debra (John) Morgan, of Canton, IL, Kim (Bill Brown) Maddox, of Cloquet, MN, Scott (Gaybri) Maddox, of Fort Worth, TX, Alan (Trish) Maddox, of Hecker, IL, and Nicole Guthrie, of Quincy; 18 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren and one on the way; a sister, Norma Pryor, of Palmyra, MO; and a brother, Harold Clifford, of Quincy.

Vallie was preceded in death by his parents, and seven brothers and sisters.

Services: 10:30 am Thursday, May 26, 2016 at Hansen-Spear Funeral Home with Rev. Steve Disseler officiating.

Burial: Quincy Memorial Park, Quincy, Illinois

Visitation: 9:00 – 10:30 am, Thursday, May 26, 2016 at Hansen-Spear Funeral Home
