LAKE HAVASU CITY, AZ. — Norman E. Cathcart, 89, of Lake Havasu City, formerly of Elkhart, IN., passed away peacefully Monday, May 23, 2016.
Norm was born Feb. 18, 1927, in Judsonia, AR., the son of the late Chester and Alice (Miller) Cathcart.
He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He worked for the U.S. Post Office Department as a railway postal clerk on the Twentieth Century Limited before being transferred to the post office in Elkhart. He was superintendent of collection and deliveries and superintendent of mail before retiring in 1984.
On April 9, 1947, Norman was united in marriage to Janet Sue Westbrook who preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Ronald Cathcart and his wife, Mary J. Decker-Cathcart.
He is survived by three daughters, Kaye Long of Eudroa, Kansas, Sue Cathcart of Kalamazoo, MI., and Cindy Yoder of Elkhart; four grandchildren, Michael Long, Sarah Elston, Luke (Olivia) Yoder and Phil Yoder; and four great-grandchildren, Joshua, Jacob, Madilyn and Taylor.
At his request, cremation has taken place with no visitation.
A family memorial will be at a later date.
