In 1882, Josiah Moulton founded the Moulton Hill Winery on land south of Cloverdale, Sonoma County, California, previously planted to vineyard with partner and brother-in-law, Joseph A.Carrie, a Cloverdale merchant.
On Sunday, March 28, 1886, Josiah W. Moulton, Sr. died of Tubercular Laryngitis in San Francisco, California.
