Memorial services for Calvin Clifford Blackmon Jr., 60, will be Saturday at 4 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Williams, Jacksonville.

Mr. Blackmon retired from the Anniston Army Depot after 33 years. He served in the United States Air Force from 1971-1974. Mr. Blackmon was a graduate of the 1977 class of the University of Alabama, with a B.A. in History, but was a avid Auburn fan. Calvin loved being a Southerner and was proud to be from Dixie.

He loved Civil War history, fishing and was famously known as the "Mater Man" for his home grown tomato plants.

Survivors include his mother, Lois Counts Blackmon; children, Wesley C. Blackmon (Lori) and Shelley Blackmon Elkins (Jon); mother of children, Karen L. Blackmon; aunts and uncle, Joe and Jerrie Blackmon and Sue Coston; grandchildren, Olivia Elkins, Bella Blackmon and Ellie Blackmon; lifelong friends, Dennis and Vicki Pontero, Larry and Marie Thornbury and their families and Virgle Stone; niece, Christy Shipe and nephew, Shannon Thornbury.

He was preceded in death by his father, Calvin C. Blackmon Sr. and sister, Bonnie Blackmon.
