Second Youth In Crash Dies
VERSAILLES, Ky., March 2, (Special) - A second Fayette County boy has died of injuries suffered in an auto crash Sunday. At Frankfort, State Police said deaths of the two brothers brought this year's traffic toll in Kentucky to 129 or 25 more than at the same date last year. Jerry Daniel Roe, 15, of the Higbee Mill Road, died at 2:15 a.m. today at the St. Joseph Hospital in Lexington. His brother Walter, 17 who was driving the car apparently died instantly when the vehicle hit a tree on U.S. 62 north of her. Fayette Coroner Chester Hager said Jerry died of extensive internal injuries, a ruptured spleen, a ruptured liver and fractures though one side of his body. He was never taken off the critical list. A member of the Church of the Nazarene in Versailles attended Jessie M. Clark Junior High School in Fayette County. Double rites will be conducted for the two boys, who were sons of Mr. and Mrs. Loranza Roe, Sr. Five other brothers and a sister survive. Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. today at Duell-Clark Funeral Chapel by the Rev. Lee Wiggington and the Rev. Selby Newby. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens. Bearers for Walter will be Ricky Hulett, Boyd Anglin, Donald Turner, Glenn Brumback, Bobby Southworth and Lee Hindrick.
