Mary was my great-grandmother, and I remember her as a sweet little lady who let me bang away on her piano despite my lack of talent, who baked great pies and other goodies, and who had a lovely porch for a little kid to play on, complete with porch swing and sweet-smelling rose vines. Mary herself had not a little talent on that piano. During her final months she was debilitated by a stroke, but her mind and eye were clear enough to recognize everybody and converse with them - and her eye would light up and that one corner of her mouth curl into her old, sweet smile.
Meemaw, you are so missed, but we know that you are now singing above with the angels.
Many, many thanks to Jeanette for her work on Mary's memorial!
