Franklin D. Benzinger, age 69, former Mishicot resident, died Tuesday, Feb. 3,
2004 at the North Ridge Medical and Rehabilitation Center in Manitowoc. A
memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 7,
2004 at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Mishicot with the Rev. Paul Paider
officiating, along with his brother, the Rev. Oscar Benzinger, S.J. concelebrating,
with burial of his cremated remains in the parish cemetery.
Frank was born Feb. 6, 1934 in the Town of Mishicot to the late Oscar and Helen
Sturm Benzinger and has been a lifelong area resident. He was a graduate of
Mishicot High School with the class of 1951. He served in the U.S. Army from 1955
to 1958 in Germany. Frank owned and operated the homestead farm in the Town of
Mishicot for many years, and also worked at the Hamilton Manufacturing Co. and
retired from there in 1996. He was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church in
Mishicot, and enjoyed bowling, shooting pool, and playing cards. He is survived
by three daughters and one son-in-law: Laurie and Wendell Clayton, Missouri;
Barbara Buck, Missouri; and Cheryl Benzinger, Manitowoc; two sons and daughters-
in-law: Michael and Danielle Benzinger, Texas; John and Donna Buck, Missouri;
seven grandchildren: Justin and Noël Benzinger; Ashley and Jeremy Buck; Brian,
Scott and Amanda Clayton. He is further survived by two brothers: the Rev. Oscar
Benzinger, S.J., South Dakota; and Fred Benzinger, Two Rivers; three sisters and
two brothers-in-law: Lillian and Donald Gerrits, Kaukauna; Betty Olsen, Manitowoc;
Barbara and Leonard Schiesl, Manitowoc; nieces and nephews. He was preceded in
death by two sisters and three brothers-in-law: Helen and Herbert Rosinsky; Lila
and Dale Stenner; Wilfred Olsen; and by a sister-in-law: Dorothy Benzinger.
Relatives and friends may call after 9:30 a.m. Saturday at Holy Cross Catholic
Church in Mishicot, until the time of service at 11 a.m.
The Lambert-Eckert Funeral Home, Mishicot, is assisting the Benzinger family
with funeral arrangements.
The Benzinger family wishes to express a very special thank you to the Care
Partners Assisted Living Facility of Manitowoc for their care, love and concern
shown to Frank and our family during Frank’s illness.
