Robert Lee Mullins, Sr., 85, of Fairmont, passed from this life Friday, (January 1, 2016) at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Clarksburg, after a long illness. He was born in Widen, WV on April 3, 1930 a son of the late Jay and Esta Edith Cogar Mullins.
Bob was a Christian by faith. He was a US Army veteran of the Korean War. He formerly worked as an appliance repairman for the Wall Plaster Co. with nineteen years of service, and retired as a coal miner with twenty nine years of service to the Consolidation Coal Co. He was a member of the UMWA Dist. 31 Local 1501, was a Lifetime Member of VFW Post 629 and the DAV Chapter 45, a longtime member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles #1947, and was an active member of the Moose Lodge #9 before transferring to the Mannington lodge.
He enjoyed the motorcycle trips that he and his wife took, hunting, fishing, camping, working word puzzles and dancing.
Mr. Mullins is survived by his two sons Robert L. "Bobby" "TAZZ" Mullins, Jr. of Fairmont and George J. Mullins of Naples, Florida; one brother James Mullins of Norristown, PA; two grandsons Karry Kurchaba and Travis Mullins.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 47 years Maybelle Thrall Mullins on March 30, 2003 and his daughter April Renee Mullins; one brother Stanley Mullins and two sisters Mary Elizabeth and Caroline Jane Mullins.
Friends may call at the Frey Home For Funerals (Addition Chapel A), 320 Madison St., Friday from 2-8 pm and Saturday from 10 am till the time of the service at Noon. Services will be held in the funeral home Saturday at 12:00 pm with the Rev. David Cyphers officiating. Interment will follow at the Grandview Memorial Gardens where full military honors will be presented by the US Army and the Marion County Honor Guard.
