Bertha Arnold
Bertha Arnold, 77, of 145 E. 12th St., Traverse City, died Saturday at Munson Medical Center.
The daughter of John and Luella (Schlosser) Courtade was born April 23, 1901 in East Bay Township and married in Traverse City in 1923 to Howard Arnold, who survives.
Also surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Donald J. (Romana) Clark and Mrs. Edward J. (Kathryn) Gavan of Grand Rapids; a brother, Peter Courtade of Traverse City; four sisters, Mrs. Nellie Courtad, Mrs Theodore (Alice) Lautner, Mrs. Laura Kedrovicz and Mrs. Julius (Ellen) Kratochvil, all of Traverse City; several nieces and nephews; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a brother and two sisters.
She lived in Traverse City until 1929 when she and her husband purchased a farm in Acme. They returned to Traverse City in 1964.
Mrs. Arnold was a member of St. Francis Church and its Alter Society. She was one of the orgnizers of the Acme Women's Clib in 1948 and a member of the Traverse City Women's Club.
A graduate of St. Francis High School and Central Michigan College, she taught school at Bowers Harbor and Acme.
The Rev. Raymond C. Mulka will officiate at funeral mass at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Francis Church. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery.
Rosary will be recited at 7:30 this evening at the Reynolds-Hanson Funeral Home. Envelopes are available there for contributions to the Heart Association.
