Everett enlisted as a Private in Company G, Twenty-seventh Connecticut Volunteer Infantry during the American Civil War. He was captured at Chancellorsville and was held as a P.O.W. in Libby prison.
Everett died in 1907 in Milford at about age 64 years old. He was buried in Milford Cemetery.
Everett and Charlotte had six children, Herbert Arthur Clark, Walter Everett Clark, Charlie M. Clark, Frederick Merritt Clark, Charlotte May Clark, and Arthur Bryan Clark.
