Rose L. (Turinese) Avalloni of West Roxbury died Friday, Oct. 20, 2006, at the Wingate of Needham. She was 98.

Mrs. Avalloni was born in Italy while her parents were visiting relatives. She came to the United States with her mother as an infant. The family had resided in Mansfield, where Mrs. Avalloni was raised, went to school and lived until relocating to West Roxbury at the time of her marriage. She lived in West Roxbury for more than 70 years.

She was a homemaker, enjoying the role of wife and mother. Mrs. Avalloni was dedicated to meeting the nurturing need of her family.

She was a member of the Italian Charitable Association and the Sons of Italy Lodge in Roslindale.

Wife of the late Andrew Avalloni, who died in 1989, she leaves three daughters, Phyllis Dipoli and her husband, Alfred, of Needham, Jean Balerna and her husband, Eugene, of West Roxbury and Carolyn Whalen of Glen Cove, N.Y.; two sisters, Yolanda Stachelek of Florida and Louise Calandrella of Attleborough; her grandchildren, Denise Petersen, Andrea Shields, Eugene Balerna Jr., Dawn Parrett, Erin Fitzpatrick, Kerry Reedy, Tara Malloy and Shawn Whalen; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Her funeral Mass was celebrated Monday, Oct. 23, at Holy Name Church in West Roxbury.

Burial was in St. Mary's Cemetery in Mansfield.

Arrangements were made by P.E. Murray-George F. Doherty & Sons of West Roxbury.
