Ardell A. Abraham, 51, Dakota, Ill., died unexpectedly Oct. 21, 2006 in Joliet, Ill.

He was born May 21, 1955 in Darlington, the son of Howard L. and Marian G. (Metcalfe) Abraham. Ardell graduated from Darlington High School in 1973. He lived and grew up around Darlington before moving to Dakota, Ill., in 1989, where he had resided since. Ardell drove for Whitehead Specialties, Monroe; Monroe Redi Mix; and most recently for Bennett Boals Trucking, Inc., Rock City, Ill. In his spare time Ardell worked on the Enzinger farm near Dakota.

Ardell was a member of the Orangeville United Methodist Church, Swiss Valley Chapter of Harley Owners Group (HOG) of Monroe, the ATV Pulling Association and Northwest Area Pool League. Ardell loved spending time with his children and attended all their sports activities. He also was an avid deer hunter. Ardell will always be remembered for his practical jokes and teasing with his family and friends.

He is survived by his mother, Marian (Wesley) Seffrood, rural Darlington; the mother of his children, Maureen Enzinger-Abraham, Dakota, Ill.; his children: Andrew, Arick and Amelia Abraham, at home; a brother, Allen (Carolyn) Abraham, rural Darlington; his sisters: Audrey Abraham, rural Gratiot; Annette (Curt) Isenberger, Orfordville; Anita (Rod) Disch, Monroe; a special friend, Bobbi Krueger, rural Monroe; many aunts and uncles; and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Howard, on Jan. 30, 1970.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, Oct. 26, 2006 at 11 a.m. at the Darlington United Methodist Church, Darlington. The Rev. Larry Hakes will officiate. Burial will be at Union Grove Cemetery, Darlington. A visitation will be held Wednesday, Oct. 25 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Erickson Funeral Home, Darlington. A memorial fund has been established in Ardell's name.
