Willard W. "Bill" Bishop, died Sunday, May 14, 2006. After living a full life and fighting a brief battle with Leukemia, he left this earthly world and entered peacefully into eternity with the Lord Jesus Christ.

Bill was born and raised in South Carolina. He was the youngest child of A. J. and Ella Bishop. He was preceded in death by his wife, Judy, both of his parents, his sister, Outia Benton and his brother, Walter L. Bishop.

He is survived by his son, Joseph W. Bishop of Navarre, Florida and many nieces, nephews and loving friends.

Bill retired as a carpenter and became a full time fisherman and handyman. He could do just about anything. His love for freshwater fishing was obvious by all who knew him, but his love for people was even greater and quickly realized by everyone he met. Most of the people he worked for grew to have affection toward him. He never met a stranger and he was blessed with the gift of making friends. If you knew Bill Bishop, you knew you had a genuine friend. If you were fortunate to receive one of the lighthouse lapel pins he so proudly gave away, it would please him for you to wear it as you say goodbye.

Dad was a living testimony for what it means to love one another as our God loves each and everyone of us. Dad's unconditional love was felt by each person he met and will continue to live in each of you whose life he touched. As many of my friends have epxressed "Mr. Bishop is everyone's dad." My father was a gift from Heaven and we will deeply miss him.

Thank you to all the people of The Joyce Goldenberg Hospice Residence for caring for my dad and comforting me, my family and friends.
