in Manitowoc.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, May 10, 2002 at St. Peter's
Evangelical Lutheran Church in Mishicot, with the Rev. Robert Johannes
officiating. Burial will take place in the Mishicot Public Cemetery.
Ned was born May 15, 1912 in the town of Two Rivers to the late Albert and
Hattie Kummerow Demsien and has been a lifelong area resident. He attended
the Rangeline School in Two Rivers. He married the former Violet Ullman May 24,
1933 at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Two Rivers. Ned was employed
by the Manitowoc County Highway Department for many years and he and his wife
later owned and operated the Mishicot Variety Store. He was a member of St.
Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church of Mishicot, where he served several terms
on the Church Council. He was also a member of the Mishicot Sportsman's Club.
He enjoyed working on his tractor, always helping people plowing snow in the
winter and working gardens in the spring and summer. He had a special talent
working with wood. Ned had the gift of music and has passed this gift to several
of his grandchildren. His favorite kind of music was the polka, even recording a
record when he played with the Two Creeks Farm Hands.
Survivors include his wife: Violet; two daughters and sons-in-law; seven grand-
children; and 19 great-grandchildren (private). He was also preceded in death
by one brother: Edwin Demsien; and three sisters: Irene Zimmerhakel, Ethel Eis
and Mabel Krjnik.
Relatives and friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday (TONIGHT) at the
Lambert Funeral Home in Mishicot. Visitation will continue after 10 a.m. on
Friday at St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church until the time of funeral
service at 11 a.m. In lieu of other expression of sympathy a memorial fund has
been established in his name.
Ned love to serve his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ at his church. He wants his
family and friends to know that for him to live, was Christ, and to die, is to
gain.
