Isaac Bates served as a private in the 5th Artillery and Infantry Regiment (Colden's) New York Militia during the War of 1812, under Capt. Philip Schuyler in the battalion commanded by Maj. Philo Dibble. After the war, he received a bounty land warrant for property in Thompson, Sullivan Co., NY, where he resided for over fifty years. Following the death of his wife Maria about 1856, he lived with various of his children, eventually moving with some of them to Erie Co., PA, where he probably died before 1870.
