He married Susan C. Emerson on Sept. 10, 1883 in her birth place, Methuen, Massachusetts. They made their home in Newton, N.H.
Edwin and Susie had two children, but only son Roy Colby Hoyt (b. April 14, 1885) made it to adulthood.Roy went on to become a fire insurance underwriter in West Brighton, Richmond, N.Y. Roy died 09 Oct 1943.
