Josephine A. Stadnik, age 93, of Dyer, fell asleep in the arms of the Lord on Saturday, May 28, 2016. Jo is survived by her loving and devoted daughter Joellen K. Stadnik; loving and caring son Michael W. Stadnik III; adoring grandsons Michael John Stadnik and Mark Joseph Stadnik; many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews; special friends: Laura Demarco, Ami Stadnik and Boo Boo Stadnik; the loving staff of Dyer Nursing & Rehab who took such good care of her. Preceded in death by her husband Michael W. Stadnik Jr.; siblings: John (Marge) Bindas, Mary (Kelman) Borbely, Ann (Percy) Giecko and Michael (Adeline) Bindas; parents Joseph and Helen Bindas.

Jo was a lifelong and active member of St. Michael Ukrainian Orthodox Church. She was a lifetime member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Sisterhood of St. Michael. During WWII our own “Rosie the Riveter” was employed by Inland Steel and continued her employment until 1947. Jo loved everything about life and she will be dearly and sorely missed by all whose lives she touched.

Friends may visit with the family on Wednesday, June 1, 2016 from 2:00-8:00 PM at the Solan Pruzin Funeral Home 7109 Calumet Ave Hammond. Parastas 7:00 PM Wednesday. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, June 2, 2016 at 9:30 AM at St. Michael Ukrainian Orthodox Church 7035 Columbia Ave Hammond with Fr. Raymond Sundland officiating. Josephine will in lie repose at the church from 9:00 AM until time of service. At rest Elmwood Cemetery Hammond. In lieu of flowers donations in Jo’s honor may be made to further Alzheimer’s Research or Harbor Light Hospice.
