Charles P. Binney was the third child of John and Elizabeth (Parkin) Binney. He immigrated to the United States thru the Port of New Orleans in 1846 with his mother Elizabeth, his sister Elizabeth P., his brother Thomas P., and younger brother Walter P. Binney.
He married Catherine (Webster) Proven in Macoupin County, Illinois in 1852 and they became the parents of nine children.
