Geraldine (Geri) Viola Hartnell, passed away Tuesday, September 29, 2015, at her home in Grants Pass, Oregon. She was 91 years old.Geri was a native of Santa Maria, California, and lived in Grants Pass for 42 years. She was a homemaker for much of her life. During the World War II years, she worked for Southern California Gas Company. Later she was employed as a cook for the Grants Pass School District and Josephine County HeadStart.Geri was a member of St. Anne Catholic Church in Grants Pass and the Josephine County Art Association.She is survived by five children, Carol (Sean) McLafferty and Patrick Hartnell both of Grants Pass; Teri (Mark) Nelson of Rogue River; Bill Hartnell of Ashland and Roy Hartnell of Arroyo Grande, California. She leaves a legacy of 14 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren. Geri was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Hartnell and a sister, Irene Simas.A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m., Saturday (Oct. 3rd) at St. Anne Catholic Church, followed by burial at Hawthorne Memorial Gardens in Grants Pass. Chapel of the Valley-L.B. Hall is in charge of the arrangements.In lieu of flowers, the family requests that friends perform an act of heartfelt kindness of any kind in honor of Geri.
