Lorna Marie Johnston, 87, of Duluth died Saturday, November 12, 2005 at St. Mary’s Hospice in Duluth.

She was born April 5, 1918 in Duluth to Hjalmer and Hilma (Pietari) Juntunen. Lorna was raised in Esko and graduated from Esko High School. She worked at Northwest Paper Company and was a loan officer at First Federal Savings & Loan.

Lorna was a member of the Elks, AARP and the Dorcas Circle at First Lutheran Church, Duluth. She loved to cook, garden and spend time with her grandchildren.

Lorna was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Joseph Braye and Clarence (Les) Johnston; brothers, Art, Carl, Bill and Earl; sisters, Martha and Betty.

She is survived by her significant other, Ray Johnson of Duluth; sons, James Braye of Cloquet, Robert (Deborah) Braye of Duluth; stepson, Michael (Shirlie) Johnston of Champlin; daughter, Susan (Joe Kolodge) Cook of Cloquet; brothers, Roy (Audrey) Juntunen of Duluth, Chum (Donna) Juntunen of Esko, Joe (Ruth) Juntunen of Carlton, and Denny (Marianne) Juntunen of Minneapolis; sisters, Elsa (Mel) Carlson of Cloquet and Kay (Marlen) Perttula of Esko; grandchildren, Jessica, Melissa and Lindsey Cook, Leslie Braye and Bob Johnston; great granddaughter, Skyler Marie; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

Funeral services were held on Wednesday, November 16, 2005 at Apostolic Lutheran Church in Esko. Burial was in Apostolic Lutheran Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to Northland Funeral Home, 701 14th St, Cloquet.
