A male child with the surname O'Toole was a Civilian Casualty of the 1916 Easter Rising, which commenced in Dublin on Monday 24th April 1916.

Death Certificate

An Unknown O'Toole, thought to be aged about 14, a Schoolboy was brought in dead to the Adelaide Hospital, Peter Street, Dublin, on 24 April 1916.

The cause of death was Gunshot Wounds to the Chest and Head.

The informant of his death was a member of the staff of the Hospital, who registered the death on 17 May 1916.

He was buried in Glasnevin Cemetery.

The 2nd Battalion of the Irish Volunteers under Commandant Thomas McDonagh occupied the biscuit factory of W.&R. Jacobs during the 1916 Easter Rising.

The factory covered an entire block, the northern part of which backed onto Peter Street.

It can therefore be assumed that the child lived locally, and was an accidental victim.

His name is included on the

1916 Easter Rising Memorial Wall

in Glasnevin Cemetery.
