The only information on Martha's burial in Greenwood Cemetery is the record made during the reading of this section that was completed in 1988. At that time, Martha's stone was broken and lying between rows in Section C. The inscription given here is taken from the cemetery reading. Martha's marker was not found in 2015 when the cemetery was photographed.

Date of birth is calculated from information read from her marker to the effect that Martha was 12 days old at the time of her death on 11 Mar 1852.

Samuel and Sarah Barton, with children William, Lester, Samuel, Washington, Mary F, Sarah, Leonard J, and Almer (Elenor) are shown in the 1850 US census, living in USA, NY, Niagara, Wilson. In the 1860 US census, the family is shown living in USA, MI, Branch, Batavia.

Besides Martha, there are only three individuals presently known to have been Bartons buried in Greenwood. Edwin F and Lydia Jane (Shelden) Barton are buried in Section C, Lot 27, not that far away from where it appears Martha's marker was found in 1988. Edwin's mother, Mary C (Brown) Barton, is buried by herself in Section B.

Although it is not presently known if Samuel is related to Edwin, it seems likely that Martha was buried on Edwin's lot.

If you have information about the relationship, if any, between Samuel and Edwin, please contact the manager of this memorial, Thank you!
