Earl of all Northumbria, he lived to battle with King Malcolm II of Scotland at Corham. Uchtred was then assassinated by Thurbrand the Hold. About 1024, Thurbrand died at the hands of Uhtred's son, Ealdred (Earl of Bernicia), who was himself later killed by Thurbrand's son, Carl. Two of Carl's sons were in turn killed by Ealdred's grandson Waltheof, Earl of Northumbria, or his soldiers. Uchtred is a 16X great-grandfather of King Henry VIII of England:
