Church Services for James Myron Townley, 91, of Paducah, will be held on Wednesday June 8, 2016 at 11:00 am at the First Baptist Church in Paducah with Bro. David Williams officiating. Interment will follow at Garden of Memories under the direction of Zapata Funeral Home of Paducah. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 7, 2016 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at the funeral home.

Mr. Townley passed from this life on June 5, 2016 in Matador. Myron was born on July 25, 1924 in Paducah to Robert Marvin and Ollie Mae (Robertson) Townley. He graduated from Valley View School also known as University. He enlisted in the Army on February 2, 1943 and served three years during WWII. He was honorably discharged on March 18, 1946. He married Viola Clifton on September 23, 1977 at the Missionary Baptist preacher’s home. Myron was a farmer, and he also owned and managed a cotton gin until he retired. He was a lifelong member of the Baptist Church. He was saved at a young age. Mr. Townley was not afraid to share his faith with those who would listen. He asked everyone he met if they knew the Lord and if they did not he would pray and minister to them.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 38 years: Viola Townley; children: Tarra Nann Cox and husband David of Paducah, Shauna Taylor and husband Bob of Paducah, Pam Hoing and husband Joe of Lewisville, Texas, and Homer Johnson and wife Alice of Shattuck, Ok., seven grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents; Robert Marvin and Ollie Mae Townley, and his siblings; Truman Townley, Wanza Lou Allen, and Madeline Felts.

In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations be made to the First Baptist Church or to the Paducah Cemetery Association.
