He was born on July 19,1956 the son of George W. Collins and Diane Newsom Collins of Laurel, DE.
He was a graduate of Indian River High School's Class of 1974. He attended Randolph Macon College and also the University of Delaware at Newark, graduating in 1978. He then attended Delaware Law School at Widener University graduating in 1982.
He has served for many years as a Public Defender working first in Criminal Courts in Dover and Wilmington and was presently working in Family Court in Wilmington.
He was a member of Elsmere Volunteer Fire Company and a former member of Frankford Volunteer Fire Company, and Frankford United Methodist Church. He was a member of the Delaware State Bar Association since 1983, was a member of the Federal District Court-District of Delaware, a member of the Delaware Trial Lawyers Association, a member of the Delaware Criminal Lawyers Association and he was a member and served as council for the Wilmington Chapter of the Fraternal Order of Police.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by a daughter, Megan G. Collins and her mother, Robin Collins, both of Wilmington and a brother, Barry W. Collins of Rhodesdale, MD.
Funeral services for him will be held on Thursday February 10, 2000 at 2 p.m. at FRAMPTOM-HAWKINS-ESKOW FUNERAL HOME, P.A. in Federalsburg, MD with Norman Dukes officiating. Interment will follow at Brookview Cemetery, Brookview, MD.
